[comp.sys.hp] kermit on 9000/375 don't work. alternatives?

Kermit works fine for terminal emulation, but we have had absolutely no
success in file transfer; it always times out. Even two machines with the
same kermit won't transfer files.

This box came with C-Kermit 4E(072) 24 Jan 89.
I got newer sources and compiled C-Kermit, 4F(077) 1 Apr 89.
Still the same.

We also have a PC here that uses the same modem line going out, and it
works fine for transfering via kermit with microvax, dynix, other PCs,
as well as some remote HP 9000's running 7.0.

Thus, I suspect something is wrong with these machines or the OS version
(we were 7.03, now 7.05; same on both), or maybe kermit. The settings for
Kermit as the same as those on the other systems, as far as I can tell.

Ideas for other file transfer software welcomed. We're connected via
9600bps serial line to modem to X25 PAD, and sometimes it's a little flaky,
so some correction is needed. (and then, I telnet from Germany).

Thanks,
