We use Sun's automounter on our Suns here and are in general satisfied with it. I'm looking into the possibility of using amd on our HPs, and would like to hear some experiences from the net. The environment is 4 HP-9000/400s servers, each serving a number of 400t diskless systems. The HP servers mount file systems from other HP servers and from Sun servers. My questions are: - What version of amd are you running? - Are you satisfied with the reliability of amd on the HPs? - Does amd protect you against NFS 'hangs', as it (at least partially) should? - Are you satisfied with the reliability of amd on the HPs? Be sure to disable the daemon before running /etc/update. There was a problem which caused a bus error in update if the automounter had a file system mounted. This problem has been fixed for the 8.0 version of update.
