[comp.sys.hp] Emacs and HP-UX

scot@tcad.ee.ufl.edu (Scott) (05/22/91)

Hello,

Has anyone found a hack to emacs that will run under HP-UX?
What is the ftp site?

Regards,
Scott

I have compiled GNUemacs-18.57 without any problems on a HP9000/400t
running HPUX 7.03. It runs nicely.

There are major differences between version 18.55 and 18.57 regarding
HPUX-support.

I sent Scott some mail on this, but, for HP machines, a copy of the
"unofficial HP GNU Emacs" works much better than vanilla 18.57 (it's
based upon 18.57, but it's designed to work with HP workstations and
terminals, and has a lot more features). A copy is on this year's
INTEREX contrib tape, and John Milburn has made a copy of the some of
the stuff on this tape available via anonymous ftp from me10.lbl.gov
(128.3.128.110). For the "unofficial HP GNU Emacs", I think the
filename is "/pub/interex/HUGE.tar.Z".

If anyone wants more info, send Email.

The Huge Unofficial HP-improved gnu-emacs can be found on the Interex
tape or at me10.lb.gov.
It has several features added: Mouse-highlighting, support for
function keys on HP-consoles (with three-deep menus), ange-ftp,
headers, etc. It compiled easily on a 345 under HP-UX 7.0 also.
