We have a HP 9000/340 with two CS80 disks (HPIB interface), one HP7985 and one HP7985B. This gives use around 300MB diskspace which is getting a little cramped. (Did I say a little ? :-)) I opened up one of the disks recently and was pretty suprised to find a standard Micropolis ESDI drive inside. Is it possible to replace the disk with something a bit larger, say 680 MB? The problems which could arise are: Does the ESDI controller use the Request Configuration command to read the capacity of the drive? (See Byte June 1990) Does the ESDI controller in the HP7985 support 15Mbit/s transfer rates ? (all drives above 330MB use this) Do the media initialize utilities delivered with HP/UX 7.0 format another disk? Thanks in advance Paul Derks paul@stack.urc.tue.nl ############################################################# What do you mean, radiation?
