I'm posting this for a site that currently doesn't get News, please send any answers to alois@azur.ch or alois@as360.uucp Thanks Simon ------------------------------------------------------------------------- We have conencted a 1050 Mb Fujitsu disk drive M2266-SA to a HP 9000/380 workstation under HP-UX 7.05. After creating a corresponding /etc/disktab entry, we created a filesystems with newfs and mounted it. First everything looked fine, we wrote 800 Mb of data onto the disk and read them again. Then we started noticing problems like 'bad copy' messages from cp and worse. Checking the drive with fsck displays lots of 'CANNOT READ BLOCK xxx' messages. mediainit does not help, nor does playing around with different /etc/disktab parameters. Fujitsu claims that all bad blocks are spared when formatting in the factory, and that it is unlikely that so many bad blocks occur on a new drive. Does anyone have experience with this kind of drive on a HP system? Please mail any information to alois@azur.ch Thanks, Alois Treindl -- CHUUG/EUnet Switzerland Simon Poole Viktoriastrasse 19 Tel: +41 1 313 13 26 CH-8057 Zuerich Fax: +41 1 312 49 77 poole@sp.chuug.ch
