What's supposed to be new in HP-UX 8.0 ?? Even if the 8.0 release is soon available, I have no idea what will be new in this release.. This morning I was asking the UK HP Response Centre when HP-UX 8.0 will be available in the UK for series 300 machines. Whilst talking to them I mentioned that I thought it had been released already elsewhere in the world. Am I right or do people have pre-release versions only? To the best of my knowledge :
700 : 8.01 (note the added "1") shipped with new systems.
800/600 : Normal customer release ("AR") : not yet released. Probably
question of a few weeks.
VAR release : (I think) shipping in the US, not yet in Europe.
300/400 : Not yet released (not for new systems, not for VARs, not for
normal customers).
For more precise information: Contact your local HP support
administration (for updates) or sales (for new systems) department.

I have a message from May 13 which says: The Solution Core Release (SCR) for new customers was to begin May 8 for s800 and June 11 for s300/400. VAB update shipments of SCR was to begin May 13 for s800 and June 18 for s300/400. The Application Release (AR) for new customers is supposed to begin July 2 for s800 and July 11 of s300/400. The AR Trade Update is supposed to begin July 9 for s800 and July 18 for s300/400. The SCR releases, as I understand them, consist of the minimum functionality to ship to customers. The AR releases will have significant quality improvements.
