Dear Netlanders 1. We have an HP7600 Model 355, electrostatic plotter which has given us trouble since new with an ink wash appearing across drawings, especially after it has been sitting for some time - i.e. the second and successive drawings off usually work OK. Anyway when we changed to the expensive paper the problem reduced considerably. (HP initially said that we could use the cheap paper on most plotting and only use the expensive stuff for high quality plots). HP are still stuffing around trying to fix the problem completely. Has anybody else had similiar problems and sorted them out adequately? 2. We use Integraph UNIX work stations in a mapping system and have chosen to scan our existing paper cable record maps rather than try to convert them to vector form. We intend to do updates in vector but retain the existing information in raster form. This decision was made on the assumption that we could plot raster image files at some reasonable speed! Integraph have finally written a raster driver to allow us to plot raster images on the HP7600 - problem is that so far we have managed to get only one A0 size plot out of the system and it took 4 hours. Then the plot driver refused to work again. At that plotting rate it would take a year and a half of continuous plotting to get one copy of all our plans. So far no luck with Integraph or HP in sorting out the problem. Has anyone else gone down this road and had any better luck?
