Hi all, Pardon me for posting to a group that I don't regularly follow, but... A laboratory in Europe is using ftp to access files from our unix machine. Due to their tenuous connections to the internet, it takes ~2 hrs to transfer a 5M file. I would like to compress the files to save time, but they would then need to uncompress the files. Is there a version of compress that exists for the HP3000 (I think that's it, I know it's a non-unix machine.) Are there any archive sites for HP3000 software? Please email or post. Thanks, glenn popelka@ody2.uchicago.edu

Sorry I can't be of any immediate help to your main question, but regarding HP3000 software archives -- the HP3000 Users Group (INTEREX) maintains a pretty healthy Contributed Software Library for its members. I have no personal experience with it, but I've heard some positive comments at INTEREX conferences... If you wish to contact INTEREX for more information on membership fees and services, here is the information from the INTEREX monthly magazine (INTERACT): INTEREX 585 Maude Court P.O. Box 3439 Sunnyvale, CA 94088-3439 (408) 738-4848 (408) 736-2156 (FAX) If I find anyone with any useful tips regarding unix --> MPE (HP3000) FTP and compressed files, I will direct them to this post.
