Any 128 users out there tried Turbo Pascal on your 128 (in CP/M mode)? I've got this package for an IBM Clone, and consider it one of the better pieces of PC software I've ever used. If you can get this up on the 128 (the manual does state that the disk can be used on PC/MS-DOS and/or CP/M systems), that would be a truly wonderful thing. Any hints on how to set it up?

Yes, I've tried it. It works fairly well, if you can put up with the slow
microprocessor. You'll have to find a copy of it for CP/M, though. Your
PC version will *not* work on the 128. I recommend the one that
Borland sells for the Kaypro II. Your 128 can read the disk directly; all
you have to do is install it.

Yes, Turbo Pascal, CP/M version will indeed function on a C-128. I tried it out on a friend's C-128. (I don't have my own C-128.) I think that he picked up the Turbo Pascal pacakge in Kaypro disk format, although my memory is a bit unsure, it might have been for one of the other CP/M boxes. The only bad part is that the 1571 disk drive performance isn't as good as what you are used to on a PC compatible. You can use the setup program that comes with Turbo pascal to set up the escape sequences for an Adm 3 terminal as per the C-128 user's manual so that the Wordstar-like integral editor works just fine. It'll even let you use color for text stand-out mode, etc. Neat. This was on a fairly old version of C-128 CP/M, so the disk performance might be a lot nicer on newer releases, especially if you use the ramdisk feature. You'll definitely need to acquire a CP/M format version of Turbo Pascal, although using Xmodem or something similar, many of the MS-DOS *.PAS programs can be transferred and run directly without mods. --Bill Bill Mayhew Division of Basic Medical Sciences Northeastern Ohio Universities' College of Medicine Rootstown, OH 44272 USA phone: 216-325-2511 (wt@neoucom.UUCP ...!cbatt!neoucom!wtm)
