A person whom I tutor in various subjects, including computer science, recently acquired a Commodore Modem/1200 (Model 1700). He also got with it a diskette containing the comm program "Common Sense". I have some problems with this program. They are enumerated below. 1) Can you send a true break? (The manual doesn't mention it.) I know of (and use) a lot of systems that would like to see a couple of breaks so they can sync up their character-send frames with my char- receive frame properly. 2) Why does the Commodore keyboard sometimes seem to "freeze up"? The thing simply doesn't seem to be accepting keystrokes... until later, the "missing" ones suddenly pop up all at once. 3) What the heck is the "BRF"? I see it mentioned in the Com-M modem setup line, and + increments and - decrements it. Just as a guess, I tried twiddling the value up and down when we couldn't properly connect to some area BBS's, and suddenly things seemed to work. Does this have to do with the problem mentioned way in the back of the manual of Bell-212 modems that send "1200" baud actually at 1219 baud? Or is it something entirely else? Any and all help, comments, flamage of the Modem/1200, etc. gratefully accepted. -- +=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+= Name: G. T.
