[comp.sys.cbm] C128 update ROMs

fred@cbmvax.UUCP (03/30/87)

I have been informed by our service group that I have made a social blunder
by announcing the availability of the update 128 ROMs. While it is true
that these ROMs now exist, apparently the procurement of these parts by
Commodore Service is not very straightforward. That is a round-about way
of saying that Service does not yet have a supply of these parts for you.

The deluge of orders Service has received has been nothing compared to the
intensity of the calls I have received from Service regarding this faux pas.

But then, I *did* say to mail your order- and if you had done so, and
allocated 4 to 6 weeks for processing, everything would have been just
ducky and my tush would not be crispy. sigh.

Please be patient, and don't vent your rath upon Service. They are not
to blame, the system is. And service is not accustomed to dealing with
users; they prefer dealers and service centers. As a New Thing to Try,
this attempt to make parts available to DIY-ers ain't getting off to a
good start. Just give it a chance to come up to speed, okay? Anyway,
until the ROMs are in stock, Service will be shipping EPROMs to satisfy
early orders. By the way- no COD's, no credit cards, etc., etc.

As Norm said, "It's a dog-eat-dog world, and I'm wearing milkbone underwear".

Can you let us know when the ROMs do come in? And maybe a little idea of
what the new ROMs fix?
