[comp.sys.cbm] Micro VT 128

ugbowen@sunybcs.UUCP (02/08/87)

I've got the MicroVT 128 terminal emulator from Microtechnic Solutions. The
software is great, BUT... whenever I hit the [CLR/HOME] key by accident, it
locks up. I think it goes into transmit inhibit mode, but I can't find in
the docs how to recover from this. Can anyone help???

The problem is that the CLR/HOME key sends a ^S (xoff) to your host,
which, in most cases, promptly echos it back. This is interpreted as a
"don't send me any more" by MicroVT, and it refuses to transmit. This
happens to me on the average of twice an hour. Hitting a ^Q (xon) takes
care of it just fine. Try it, and look at the status line.

I don't know if this will be a solution, but try it anyway.
I have a vt100 emulator also, but not the same one you have. Pressing
the [clr/home] key does cause a xmit inhibit on mine. Pressing the
[csr down] key returns you to xmit. Hope it works for you!

My Micro VT 128 sometimes messes up the lower case characters (turns them into
something that looks like Japanese). It usually happens when I have static on
the line. I guess a control character is sent to my terminal that puts it in
that mode. Does anyone else have this problem? Does anyone no if there is
another control character that will return the system to its original state?
I'd like to create an alias to echo this character whenever the problem
arises. I wish this thing came with more docs!!

Sounds like the line noise is being interpreted as the control
to send the vt100 into graphics mode. It's easy to fix, if you don't
want to use the graphics characters. Just type C= ESC (Commodore
Escape) and you'll see the message {Graphics Disabled} in the status
line. If the machine receives the graphics command by mistake again,
it will just ignore the command sequence. This came from the first
help file on the disk that had MicroVT on it (just hit the help key
and select option 1 of the menu).

     Hope this helps...
