------------------------------------------------------------------------- C & Assembler on the cbm-64 Please help me! ------------------------------------------------------------------------- I am programming C on a UNIX-system. It naturally would be nice to be able to use C at home too. Therefore I would be really greatful if someone told me the name of a polite, fast and compatible C-compiler on the cbm-64. I've borrowed one, but it is really driving me crazy. It is not compatible with any other C-compiler on any computer. It doesn't even handle simple tasks as 'char s[]' , 'getc()' and 'puts()' correctly. One other thing I've wanted for long, is an advanced, capable and standardized ASSEMBLER for the cbm-64. I'd be most thankful if anyone would give me names on such ones. I've got one ASSEMBLER, but it doesn't even follow the 6502/6510-standard assembly code. If there by any chance would exist "public domain" programs on the above mentioned, then I'd really like to SWAP!!!! -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Per Fornland Aahus Studiodata AB per@aahus.UUCP Box 140, S-296 00 AAHUS,SWEDEN (Or ...!seismo!mcvax!enea!aahus!per) --------------------------------------------------------------------------

I've borrowed one, but it is really driving I'm not sure which compiler you're talking about but there are only two C compilers available for the C-64: Power C (C-Power) by Spinnaker and Super C by Abacus. I've tried Super C and really didn't like it (I don't remember why though). Now I have Power C and it seems to be pretty nice. It seems to adhere to the K&R standard. I've heard of some of the bugs but they aren't that significant. Also, it seems that all the users on this news uses C-Power. So getting help and feedback is really a plus. Also, you mentioned the need of an assembler for the 6502/6510. Well, you're in luck. Mark Rinfret has written a 6502 assembler for the c64 in the C-Power environment. The program is public domain is comparable is many professional ones. Hope this has helped. Chikin Joe (jchikin@polyslo.UUCP) 61 N. Broad St. #216 San Luis Obispo, CA 93401 (805) 544-0907
