I have a C-64 with with two 1541 disk drives (#8, #9) with FLASH!. FLASH! is a ROM replacement disk speed-up from Skyles/Nesbitt. Okay, I know I am asking for compatibility problems, but I would like to add a 1581 disk drive to the system as Drive #10. Is there any way to disable FLASH! on Drive #10, but leave it enabled on drives #8 and #9 ? I like FLASH!; I want to grow with it. Bob Skyles says there is no FLASH! upgrade planned for the 1571/81. It would be nice to fully utilize the 1571 and 1581 drives from a C-64. A related question: The RAMDisk software that comes with the 1764 RAM Expander does not seem to work with FLASH! Any help here ? .....BJ ihnp4!mtgzz!bjh

Some people announce products 2 years before they're ready for shipment. Others don't announce products until the day they're shipped, in fear of the "Osborne Syndrome" and in fear that someone will copy their jiffy revolutionary new piece of hardware. I suspect that Skyles is in the latter catagory. Said one guy at a major hardware company (not in direct competition) about Skyles, "he used to be a good engineer, but then he turned into a good businessman, with everything that implies...." > It would be nice to fully utilize the 1571 and 1581 drives from a C-64. Who knows, maybe Skyles or someone else is currently working on it, and just doesn't want to announce it while it's still in wire-wrapped hand-built prototype! -- Eric Green elg@usl.CSNET "... hanging on in quiet desperation {cbosgd,ihnp4}!killer!elg is the english way, Snail Mail P.O.
