[comp.sys.cbm] Data 20 XL-80 video card

ray@j.cc.purdue.edu (Ray Moody) (01/09/88)

I am working on Kermit v2.1 currently and am considering adding a screen
driver for the Data 20 XL-80 video card for the C-64 (now out of production,
I believe). I have already added support for the Batteries Included BI-80
80 column card.

In order to add a driver I will need some reference on the card. All I have
is the card and the small blue instruction manual, which has very little
programming info. Does anyone out there in netland have a better reference
and/or experience with the card? I would appreciate any information any
of you might have.

Thanks.

I do not have any further technical information on the Data 20 XL-80
video cartridge, but may I request help on same. I was able to buy this
product at a very low price because FredRated Stores wanted to get rid
of it (and lots of other stuff) in a hurry. Unfortunately, the tape
containing the word processing program to be used with this cartridge
seems to be damaged. It will not load. I have tried to load it with
two different Datasets.

Can anyone help me get a good copy of this program, either on disk
(preferably) or tape? I don't think this would be a violation of law or ethics,
since my copy is bad and the manufacturer is out of business. Besides, the
software is useless without the cartridge, and you can't duplicate a
cartridge so easily.

Also, I notice that when I use 'get' in BASIC in the 80 column mode with
this cartridge, a line-feed always results. Is that an inevitable
byproduct of the 80 column cartridges's firmware?

Thanks for any help you may be able to give me.
