Want info on typesetting music.

I am looking for information on automated sheet music preparation
including:
A. Typesetter fonts and driving software (opt. with cooperative
	typesetter service bureau).
B. Computer keyboard entry and editing facilities.
C. Synthesizer keyboard entry, either by dedicated use or by
	real time "recording" of improvization.
D. Layout/formatting assistance.

A musician friend claims that there is need for such a system but
that he is unaware of one.  Can anyone help locate even the pieces?
