11TSTARK@GALLUA.BITNET (Timothy Stark) (02/07/88)

Hello everyone,

I owns GEOS 1.2 and Commodore 128 in 64 mode with Xetec Super Graphix Gold &
Gemini 10x. I set up MX-80 printer driver and tried to print a doc file
to my printer but it crashed system and gave me "System Error at <garbage>
0596" I downloaded Gemini10x from Quantumlink and I tried print it to
printer again. Also it failed same thing and gave me same message!
Did you know that my GEOS 1.2 have a bug or not??? How fix it??? I
had no idea that to fix it. :-(

Please reply me directly because I don't have to access to usenet!

Yes, I like that Xetec "Super Graphix" Gold printer interface for my
commodore 128. :-) I tried to requesta picture and it read a picture from
my disk drive directly without use my computer! GREATEST! Also it have
over 56 gold commands to this interface. (using open 1,15,4:print#1,..)
Also, if a program request autodump to inferface and inferface sent
a program to main computer. Also it executed and send a picture back
to inferface. You can use LOAD "<command>",4,1. Also it uses many
different fonts. Also it supports downloadable fonts!!!!

>2. what does it do with special characters (like home, change color,
>etc)? Does it print them or does it translate them to the reverse
>character? I have cardco g+ and it (frustratingly) translates them....

Yes, it can translates them 100%. Also it will shows mnemonics or graphics
mode if you want. You can switcgh toggle. In Mnemonics, it will show
[SHFT],[CYAN], etc... GREATEST!!!! Also, it can print the reverse character.

>3. How well does it buffer?

Yes, It has huge buffers. It has 32K buffers. There are avaliable for
text, pictures, and downloadable fonts.

>4. Isit worthe the $99 or so?

Yes, it is worth the $99.95. (Manfacturer list: 129.95).

>If you get this, great! If you answer it GREATER! If I then get the
>answer..... GREATEST!!!

I am glad that! Then EXTREMELY GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

thanks for the info. Looks like it will be worth looking further into.
I have a cardco g+ and some of it's "features" are a bit irksome, not
to mention not giving bidirectionality to my printer (NEC). I will trust
that the xetec has bidirectionality capabilities; well, it doesn't take
them away from a printer that has them. It is a bit infuriating to have
a printer working at "half speed".

Thanks again for the info! All came through OK (I never kno for sure).
