How do I tell whether I have the new 1571 ROM? mail to: c60b-gd@buddy.Berkeley.EDU

Well one way is to use a 1541 format and insert in the drive, then try and list the dir. if it takes forever, to load the dir. then you have the old ROM. The drive gets extremley confused trying to look for the dir. on a single side 1541 format. Try this, command in direct mode: Open15,8,15,"u0>m0":close15 Then list the dir. again and see the difference. There are other ways to check, but I don't have the list handy, if I do locate it I can, send it up (seq. file). Word of caution, there is a bug (old ROM) with the save@: command. so if you use it be sure to always verify your the file. By the way the command listed puts the drive in 1541 mode. To get it back to 1571 mode, reset the computer, or enter this line: Open15,8,15,"u0>m1":close15 Hope this helps.
