I have had a Commodore plus/4 for about three years now. Naturally, I am quite disappointed by Commodore's decision to have absolutely nothing more to do with it but I find that it has certain advantages over the C-64 and C-128. I ave written to COmmodore quite a few times asking for information on the plus/4 and each time, I get nothing in return. Commodore is obviously not the place to turn to with questions about their products. If I am to take full advantage of the machine's capabilities, however, I need to know some things: 1. The TED system memory map has several locations set aside for a "Kennedy Device." What is this "Kennedy Device" and what does it do? 2. I have frequently had things in RAM become corrupt and programs that sub- sequently refuse to work. I suspect that the 7360/8360 TED chip has a bug that causes DRAM refresh errors. Does anyone know about this? 3. Where and how can I get kernal source code? 4. The expansion port uses an edge connector on (what seems to be) 0.075in. centers. I have been unable to find a source of these connectors. Does anyone know where I can get a couple of them? 5. I would like very much to talk to the engineers who designed the plus/4. 6. Where can I get details about the 1551 and SFD-481, which were designed for the plus/4? 7. Is there any compilers available for the plus/4, such as C or pascal? 8. Is there a (macro) assembler available that works on the plus/4? 9. Finally, Does anyone know whether somebody really does make EPROMS that are pin-compatible with the 23xx series of mask-programmable PROMs? I have heard that they were available but scarce.
