sohail@terak.UUCP (05/24/84)

Does any one have experiance reading
tapes that are written using VMS
on a VAX running 4.1bsd

I am interested in transfering some
text (ascii) files between an vms
machine in CA and our unix machin
in AZ.

Thank in advance

Sohail

To read or write a VMS tape under UNIX, use the ansitar utility that
has been posted to net.sources a couple of times. To write a tape for
VMS, use the D option, which gives you block size=2048 and variable
length records (the D option for writing was added in the latest version,
posted by Pierre MacKay at the Univ of Wash).
