For the past months I have been reading about people that can't find a good VT100 program for their 128. . Well, since last summer I have been using the VT100 program that came with the 1670 modem and have had very little problems with it. I don't know if people just don't know about it or what, but it really is a great program.

I agree its a very well done program for its time... I am at the moment still using the PD version of it microvt128 this version eliminated some of the bugs found in the version supllied with the 1670... Now with the coming down in price of 2400 baud modems, this program has become a dinosaur for 128 users.. its basically what anyone needs to run through a vt100 sequence system.. yet doesnt have the bells an whistles associated with a decent term program such as bobsterm.. if the gents from microtechnics want to make themselves some moe money I suggest they revamp Sixth Sense 128 to include VT100 screens and u useable phone book type qutolog and theyd be fine. If my short memory serves me correctly sixth sense 128 does have 2400 baud capability. Still so far with all its short comings the microvt100 prg works fine for me and when I want to use 2400 baud I use Bobsterm 128 if Bob Lentini would redo the vt100 sequences he will have hit the mark for the 128 term prg... but alas I hear he has given up on the CBM machines and gone onto IBM

I guess it really comes down to what you want to use it for. I was the first one that started complaining about the vt100 emulator that came with the 1670 back in late 1985 in this newsgroup. microVT also suffers from the same problem --> they cannot be used with a screen-oriented editor like 'vi' without trashing the screen constantly. At the time I started communicating with Jeff Porter at CBM -- but no improvements (fixes) were ever made (too my knowledge). Over the past several years several people have provided their own termcap/terminfo files that supposedly work with 'vi' -- I have tested them all without success. I still run MEX in the C128 CP/M mode with a slightly modified adm31 terminfo file. I recently started playing around with KERMIT for the C64 (runs with 80 columns) -- this has a VT100 emulator that appears quite good. I am waiting to test out the latest version -- I may end up switching to that. I have also heard that Bob's Proterm has a good VT100 emulator, but I don't feel like paying that kind of money for a terminal program. -- Bill Taggart {uunet | ihnp4}!wp3b01!wjt
