Maybe I came in late, but I don't understand why there's a problem. 
Binaries are posted to other notefiles:  The only objections seem to
come from the people who aren't interested in them in the first place.
Unless there's a substantial increase in frivolous traffic, nobody
is likely to object to the posting of binaries in this file.

Don't you think it's inappropriately snobbish to enthusiastically
receive binaries for your favorite machines, but refuse them for a
machine because it's not state-of-the-art?
