I just ordered a MIDI interface from DATEL, INC., who advertize in RUN, etc. It was $40.00 plus $4.00 S&H. Is this a worthwhile interface? The only other ones I've seen advertized are by Passport and Sonus and both are considerably more expensive ($80-$100). I can't imagine that a MIDI interface needs much more than a USART chip hung on the user port of a 64/128, so I suspect that the price difference is primarily cosmetic rather than functional. Anybody currently using the DATEL unit care to comment? I plan to use it to talk with a Yamaha PSR-6300. Also, what is the max length normally permitted for a MIDI cable? Sincerely, Frank Prindle Prindle@NADC.arpa
