[comp.sys.cbm] converting 1670 modem to RS232

jem97@leah.Albany.Edu (Jim Mower) (08/16/88)

I have a 1670 modem and would like to use it on a standard RS-232 port.
Is this possible? Has anyone built some kind of conversion kit?
Can anyone recommend a good, cheap 2400 baud modem? Please email any
responses and I will post a summary later. Thank you all.

I can't help with convertin the 1670, but the Supra2400 modem gets rave
reviews wherever modems are mentioned. I have one, like it very much, and
am especially pleased with the service I get from Supra. It costs about
$135-150, depending on where you ask.

Re connecting a 1670 to RS-232:

plain-'vanilla" adapter using the Maxim 232 chips.

A hastily built breadboard worked, so this one should...
