[comp.sys.cbm] c64 programming environments: to C or not to C

bobl@tessi.UUCP (Bob Lewis) (11/01/88)

I'm looking at writing some applications on my c64, and I was wondering
what's currently available in the way of programming environments. I've
looked (briefly) at Abacus Super C, Spinnaker Power C, and GeoProgrammer,
but I've not used any of them.

If you've used any of these or other PEs you can recommend, I'd like
to hear about your experiences.

I admit a certain bias towards C, so if you chose a non-C-based PE over
something C-based for some reason other than a relative lack of C experience
on your part, like runtime efficiency or edit-compile-link-run turnaround,
I'd especially like to hear about that. It might also help place things in
perspective to get some idea of the applications you've used your PE to
develop.

This is probably one of those "oh no, not again!" requests, but I've just
resubscribed to this newsgroup after a long absence. Perhaps there's a
recent summary of experiences someone could send me.

Please respond by email. I will summarize if requested. Thanks.
