Hello folks. I am very much a new comer to home computing - normally I am happy to tinker mainframes, minis, and or workstations running all sorts of operating systems. My problem was to identify a sensible starter "computer" for a young child, 5 years of age, who has been exposed rudimentary computer appreciation at his school. I chose a commodore C64, in preference to Spectrums, Amstrads, Ataris and Amigas. I see the hardware will become largely redundant after one / perhaps two years of use ( if it survives that long, you know how children of that age are). So I am not too concerned about my choice, although comments will be welcome. What I wish to ask the net however is for assistance in tracking down vendors / suppliers of educational software, you know the kind that that teaches simple computer appreciation by word / number, object recognition / decision making games etc. . I have spoken at length to the local home computer vendors, who appear to stock variety of games, but nothing suitable for my needs. I have been in touch with Commodore in the UK; but not a great deal of help was forthcomming. Hence I am placing myself in your capable hands. I will appreciate any pointers anyone may feel able to offer, especially in the UK. Thanks in advance..
