QLINK software does indeed use a disk fast loader, but only during initial bootup. Once you've reached the point of receiving menus and data from QLINK, there is no further disk access (except occasionally during downloads when it writes to disk, but this is a write and no fast loader is used here - in fact, it seems slower than a normal write to disk). Thus, the fact that QLINK S/W uses a fastloader could not cause telecommunication flakiness simply because there is no disk activity during reception from QLINK. I stand by my assertion that peripherals connected to the C128 can not affect the reliability of the receptions (which is what I was told)! Sure, I may just be the victim of bad nodes at my local access number, but if so, QLINK and Tymnet won't cooperate in fixing them. Why must their paying customer be the middleman? In any case Customer Service did not return my call as promised, which is the last strike against them. I'm off QLINK. May others be luckier (apparently many have). Sincerely, Frank Prindle Prindle@NADC.arpa
