[comp.sys.cbm] Detailed information on the D9090 desired.

erd@tut.cis.ohio-state.edu (Ethan R. Dicks) (02/03/89)

I have got in my hands a board from the D9090, and have some technical
questions. The board has a total of 4 connectors coming off of it, and
is labeled:

TANDON INC.
WINCHESTER DOS/CONTROL
ASSY NO. 300012-002
REV A

Connectors:
One is obviously the IEEE-488 connector, and another is a 2 pin power
connector. The others I am not sure about... there is a 4x1 and a 25x2
connector on one edge of the card. The signals from the 4 pin connector
appear to be connected to the 50 pin connector. Am I right in assuming that
another board in necessary between this board and the hard drive? Did
Commodore remove the board from the Tandon drive and use its own like they
do with floppies? Is there any hope of using this board?

I have heard that there were three boards in the D9090. This is obviously
one of them. I assume that the power supply is another. What about the third
board? Do I just need a special cable to interface this board with an ST-506
type Tandon drive, or was the drive board not ST506?

There are also two jumpers on this board...

Between 7C and 6C are J6 and J5, J5 is open and J6 is closed.
Between 7D and 6D are J11 and J12, J11 is open and J12 is closed.

Are these the D9060/D9090 select jumpers?

Thanks in advance for any help,
-ethan
