[comp.sys.cbm] Kermit 2.1 and Volks 6480 modem for a old C64

twp@quintro.UUCP (Terry W. Phillips) (03/03/89)

I need help using kermit 2.1 on a old C64 with the Volks 6480 modem.

The modem does not go on line when in connect mode.

How do I dial out and connect with this modem.

Thanks terry NK9Z

I don't think you can, at least not with Kermit.

You can make the 6480 "emulate" a 1660, somewhat, with the following
POKE statements:

POKE 56590,65:POKE 56588,47:REM for 300 baud operation
POKE 56590,65:POKE 56588,63:REM for 1200 bps operation

However, I seem to recall that Kermit has no facilities for specific
modem line control. That means that you cannot have Kermit bring the
6480 on-line. I believe the same problem exists with Kermit and the
1660. (maybe somebody could possibly install a HOOK TOGGLE option to
this otherwise splendid program?)
