I'm trying to use my old Cardco LQ1 to print from my CompuAdd AT clone parallel port. The Cardco LQ1 is a Silver Reed daisy wheel printer with a built-in Cardco serial interface and has worked faithfully with my C64. When I connect its Centronics port to my AT parallel port, the printer appears to reset when the AT is rebooted but will only display the "alert" light when I use the DOS "print" command. Does the Cardco interface interfere with the Centronics port? If so, is there a way to disable it? Or is it the case that all Centronics ports are not created equal? I am using a cable which successfully connects two printers at work with ATs. Although the pinout diagram in the Silver Reed manual looks very similar to that of well behaved printers, I don't know enough about parallel ports to identify problems with them. Thanks for your indulgence on an "almost IBM" problem. Jim Mower, Dept. of Geography and Planning University at Albany jem97@leah.albany.edu (internet) jem97@albny1vx (bitnet)
