[comp.sys.cbm] C-Power BBS

Howdy Harsha,

If you are a member of a users group in Winnipeg which is interested in
C language programming we would like to establish regular communication
with you and other CBM users groups that have an interest in C.

We are looking into changing the equipment on which the system runs in
the future since it is becoming obvious that the present set-up, which
has served users well for many years, is now becoming too limiting. (a
C64, an 8250, and a Hayes 1200).

In some ways it would seem natural for us to move to a PCPunterNet
system and remain part of the Punter Network of BBS's but there are also
arguments to be made for joining the FIDO Network in order to gain
access to the C Language Echomail Conference. There is also an argument
to be made for going with a PCBoard system and joining the Canada
Conference Network which has been set up from the Canada Remote Bulletin
board system here in Toronto and which now spans the country. Becoming a
UNIX gateway would give us access to several USENET conferences which
would be of interest to CBM users.

All of this is up in the air at present as the money just isn't
available to translate these plans into reality. Hopefully some cash
will appear before too long to allow us to expand.

Is there someone in your users group who has access to an 8250? If so I
would be willing to make a couple of disks which would include pretty
well everything from the message base, the files areas, and the bulletin
section. I will consider putting the message base onto a 1541/71 disk
in SEQ file format if you like. I could also send a LIMITED number of
files from our Download areas to you. In order to do this I would
require that you send me a few disks in a prepaid disk mailer. Let me
know about this.
