Last night I read on a local BBS that Commodore had discontinued the entire line of C64/C128 and peripherals. They will now only make Amigas and MS-DOS compatibles (Colt, I guess). Anyway I have serious doubts about the accuracy of this claim. The author of the posting gave no real source of his info. Anybody out there know the real scoop? I want to post a reply to his claim. And among others, there are two good reasons for that. First, the sale of the C64 and the C128 (too!) are very good. Indeed, sale of C64 has been somewhat hurt by Nintendo. HOWEVER, that seems to have level off (and hopefully sales of C64/C128 will be going back up again). Second, many of the Amiga users has been one time C64 users. That means that there is a large pool of computer users that are faithful to Commodore products, each C64 users representing a potential for upgrading to an Amiga or Colt. And I am sure that Commodore doesn't want to hurt in anyway that royalty of millions of C64 users by abandoning the support for the C64. If we are talking about rumors..... The last thing that I heard about the C=64 is that Commodore is thinking of introducing another line of C64 that is more powerful, interms of speed/memory/graphics/sound. And this rumor was publised by several magazines with mentioned inside sources. So I guess the C64 is very secure. By the way C64 is the world's most popular home computer. Scott.

I want to post a reply to his claim. Both Service Merchandise and Best have dropped the C64/C128 and all accessories from their 1990 catalogs.
