[comp.sys.cbm] Selling old equipment

vernard@prism.gatech.EDU (Vernard Martin) (08/30/89)

I recently decided to upgrade to a more powerful computer system and I wanted
to sell off my old equipment. No use in it sitting around gathering dust.

Anyway, I want to sell my system but I have no idea what is a good price for
used equipment. I have been quoted may prices and some prices vary by as much
as $100. All the equipment is in good condition. Some of it was not
used for months but was kept dust free and powered up occasionly to make sure
that it still functioned. I have tested out everything together and all the
hardware seems to function fine together. (Word processors, spreadsheets,etc.)
Below is list of the equipment I have and a price. I would like to know
if they are outrageous or what.

$150     1 Commodore C128 Computer
$ 45     1 Commodore C64 Computer
$100     1 Commodore 1571 Disk Drive (Doublesided)
$ 75     1 Commodore 1541 Disk Drive (Singlesided)
$150     1 Commodore 1902A RGB Monitor
$ 75     1 Sekosha VC 1000 801 Printer (real nice!)
$ 50     1 Commodore 1670 1200 Baud Modem
$ 30     1 Koals Technologies Koala Pad w/stencil
$ 50     1 Okidata Thermal Color Printer
$  3     1 Super Expander Cartridge

Some extra info on the above stuff.
The C128 is in excellent shape. The 1571 also works real well. I never tried
to use the Okidata printer personally but I did see it work before it was given
to me. The 1902 monitor works well although the front panel that covers all the
video controls (contrast, brightness, etc.) is broken off. Otherwise it works
beautifully. The koala pad is in good condition and I tested it recently on a
the c128 using koala paint and music construction set. The modem is the most
recently bought piece of hardware. It probably was the best buy I made on my
system. The printer works great. Completely MPS 801 compatible and it also
does underlining, bold face, Near Letter Quality at a slow 10 CPS, italics,
supercripts, subscripts, pica and elite fonts, compressed print (132 cpl),and
complete with an ibm mode. I upgraded the rom in it about a year back so now it
works with almost all software packages. I really liked the c128 system but
I just needed more power. Right now I am using an hp150 terminal with
a couple of disk drives and a borrowed 1200 baud terminal but I want to sell
this stuff and use that money as a start on a new system. \

All comments and suggestions are welcome. Send me email. No use cluttering up
the net any more than I already have.
