How does one use the tone dial data bits on a 6480 Volksmodem?

Second,is there any way to open an RS-232 channel without clearing all
variables, besides using a machine language routine?

   Thanks in advance,
   Yattei.

Sorcery. Witchcraft. You'll need eye of newt....

But seriously, folks. Do you remember how the Apple II generated
sound? It took an I/O line and manually pulsed it at the desired
frequency, courtesy of adelay loop. Now.... imagine trying to do it
to two lines simultaneously *AND* keeping the correct frequencies that
DTMF tone dialing requires. Can you say "a way to tone dial that is
sure to make you pull your hair?" Can you say "stupid?"

The real trick is in keeping the correct frequencies. Any moron can
do it on one line, but two are harder.

Anyways, I seem to recall that I had wrangled some code out of an
ex-Anchor employee that did a fair job of tone dialing.
Unfortunately, I am sure it is copyrighted. Tear into Autocom or
whatever trash they bundled with the modem and dig it out.

The variables get cleared because the RS232 buffers are placed at the
top of RAM, which happens to be where variables are. You need to
relocate these buffers. Then fool OPEN into placing the buffers where
you want them.

] Yattei.
