Creative Micro Designs (those wonderful folks who brought you Jiffy-Dos) have a line of hard drives which will be marketed once they receive FCC approval. They had a prototype at the WOC show in Philadelphia this past weekend. It just plugs right into the serial daisy-chain like any other drive, but gets it's speed via Jiffy-Dos serial protocol (as I recall from the demo, it was about 3 or 4 times faster than a 1581 running Jiffy-Dos). You could also connect it via a parallel interface to another stunt box that isn't available yet, and get speeds approaching PC style hard drives. I recall them mention- ing prices in the $600 range. In CMD we see a company doing all the right things about 5 years too late (sigh); well, better late than never. I recall they expected FCC approval later this year or early next, but you could buy one if you really wanted one at the Canadian WOC show coming up. Sincerely, Frank Prindle Prindle@NADC.arpa
