I've been following the discussion concerning interfacing IBM harddrives to a C64 for a while, and thought I'd throw in one of my experiences. Specifically, while I was a member of QLink, I talked at length with one of their Sysops (SYSOP PJ) who claimed to have put together a cartridge to allow his C64 to talk to ST-506 (?) IBM drives. Apparently, he had over 100K of banked-in ROM on his cartridge. For his own uses, he had a 95 MB HD he picked up at a local flee market. When I talked to him, he indicated he did NOT want to market the board because he felt the *ONLY* people who would find his board usefull would be software pirates running pirate BBS's. I can see his point on this matter, though I don't think we have quite the pirate problem as the folks down south do (at least not by his descriptions). Anyway, you may wish to get in touch with him about his board, as a last resort. Maybe you can convince him to let you in on the details. If he asks you who told you this, tell him TPUG SYSBV mentioned this to you. I wonder what his responce will be....? The reason I don't ask him myself, is that I left Qlink as the TPUG SYSOP about 6 months ago. QLink is a great system, but their management leaves ALOT to be desired. I wish you luck. Let me know if you get any results. (Now I just pray I send this message correctly...) Bruce --- * Via ProDoor 3.1aR
