[comp.sys.cbm] DesTerm in demand

specter@disk.UUCP (Byron Max Guernsey) (10/19/89)

I think enough people have asked for a posting of the latest DesTerm to get one?
:-) I just got an ARCed version also and it was v1.01 and the emulations were
fried on it...in addition, the auto-dial did not work with my 1670 and the dial
string was set correctly (everything was), and when I did try to use an
emulation, I got strange zones on my screen where when text moved into those
zones, it would become the commodore graphic equivilants of the characters
moving into those zones! Very odd! I liked the terminal though and I wouldn't
mind paying a registration fee for use if I knew that it was going to work
correctly with the emulations it was supposed to have. (plus the autodial) And
also it didn't seem to like fastload carts...I had to use it without. I do like
the terminal and am searching my area for a newer version but the bbs's just
don't carry anything newer than v1.01 and it frys on me. I am formaly requesting
that someone post it on here (preferably the author, Mr. Desmond). It is an
outrageous terinal, its just a shame I can't get the emulations and screen to
work right withut those lines of grahics charaters. Thanks and please, please,
please post the newest version! Oh, for the guy that cannot find a terminal to
work with VI, try KERMIT 2.2....It works fine and there is a package for it to
convert it to work with the 6480 and 1660 modems. Kermit 2.2 is reliable, but I
want something outstanding, like DesTerm with its interlace mode and protocals.
Bobsterm 128 is pretty good, but it costs like $40 in articles I have saw
compared to DesTerm's requested payment of $25. (And DesTerm seems to be twice
as good as it)
