I have been seeing many encoded binary files posted to comp.sys.cbm which say that a C64 user can obtain working copies of these files by uuencoding them. I have also read several articles about how uuencode works, BUT I haven't read about how to obtain this program! Obviously, this program can't be posted, since you would need uuencode to convert it to binary! Where/how can this program be obtained? Thanks for any help. To get a working copy of your C64 file: 1) Get uudecode and compile it on your UNIX machine. 2) Run uudecode on your C64 file 3) Do a binary transfer from the UNIX machine to your 64. Some time ago, I remember a posting of a very short BASIC program that did the uudecode transaction on any CBM 8bit machine. As I was (and still am) connected to any number of UNIX engines with uude/encode I tried it but discarded it... Perhaps with the current heating up of interest in porting binaries about comp.sys.cbm and the different servers someone could post it here (I remember it being very short) and put it on the experimental 'MAZE' server. This would be of value to the many among us who access usenet through a vehicle like Pnet where the Unix environment is effectively locked away.... Thanks&Shalom, Joel. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ "We know only the strong will survive, But the meek will inherit.
