I've bought, tested and returned 2 (two) 1750 REUs on my 128 (rom version 1) and have had no problem with the 128; but have had repeated problems with both 1750 units. Is the RAMTEST program a reliable test of the 1750? I've also tested the 1750 on another 128 with same failures. Also, I've tested the 1750 using the STASH and FETCH commands of the screen, and used CP/M. What usually got returned was a jumbled mess of the screen text and/or the files copied over to it. Using RAMTEST, the returned message is: ERROR ! BANK = 7 ADDRESS = FEFF (1st 1750) ERROR ! BANK = 7 ADDRESS = FFBF (2nd 1750) I haven't received another 1750 yet, as I've bought these mail-order. Is the RAMTEST reliable? Is there a best, yet general way to test the 1750? And finally, how does a user test the memory in the CPU? Any other programs available to test the cpu memory and/or the 17xx memory? BTW, is/was Version 2 of the 1581 Test Demo Disk available? I got Version 1 when I bought a 1581. I've heard/seen the bugs in the V1 programs, missing goto and/or line numbers. -- Dale R Pendergrass CALMA, A Division of Prime Computer, Inc.
