[comp.sys.cbm] Old Software

tom@comcon.UUCP (Tom Claydon) (12/07/89)

The final issue of COMMODORE Magazine (Oct. '89) had an excellent article on Commodore 64 software (games) that could no longer be bought anywhere. That article brought up some interesting questions:

1) Should software companies release those programs into the public domain, since they are no longer being made? (i.e. Sierra On-Line's MYSTERY HOUSE)

2) What could be done to provide newer users with the older, out-of-print software? (The article says that pirate BBS's are the #1 source of discontinued software)

I'd really like to hear some feedback on this subject, since I'm looking for some older, out-of-print C-64 games. Thanks!
