[comp.sys.cbm] Unarchiving Large Files..

niobium@arrakis.nevada.edu (Chris Carlson) (12/14/89)

Greetings! I have just gotten a copy of the DesTerm 1.02 archive from Alex
C. Liu's mail archive and downloaded it to my C128. Unfortunately, I now have
no provision for unarchiving the darned thing! I own a 1571 disk drive, but
the unarchiver I have (Omega-Q 2, from Q-Link) refuses to unarchive the file
on the grounds that there isn't enough free disk space!

Does anybody have a solution to my problem? Is there an unarchiving utilitiy
that runs in 128 mode? I have tried loading Omega-Q and THEN putting my 1571
into double-sided mode (and, yes, the file is on a 2-sided disk), but to no
avail. I am willing to go to exorbitant measures to get this thing to work.

If you can help, PLEASE, PLEASE either post or mail. Mail preferred, of
course, 'cuz I like to conserve our net resources, but post if it bounces (it
shouldn't). If anybody else would like a summary of the responses I receive,
let me know and I'll be glad to get them to you.

By the way, I will be away from my account from the 16th of December to the
8th of January on vacation, but PLEASE send anyway (just in case you forget
later!) NOTE: The account will NOT be closed!

Many, MANY thanks in advance to all those kind souls out there with relief for
me and my woes. Perhaps somebody could unarc the archive, upload the files to
their account, uuencode them, shar THAT, and e-mail the whole lot to me. IF
you have this in mind, verify it with me FIRST, 'cause them files be BIG!

If omega Q refuses to unarc that file then simply use arc250 in c64 mode
and >u0>m1 before you start... If someone could post the new address for
Chris Smeets then you could send him $30 and get csdos and use arc in
128 mode and have a decent ansi term as well. CSDOS is not shareware
unfortunately for most leeches and since Chris is no longer involved ith
Ampere metal we seem to have lost touch with him
