[comp.sys.cbm] BYE520

I'm having trouble getting bye520 to work properly on my c128 system
I'm using bye520, and the following inserts:
b5c-cpm3.ins, b5c8-4.ins (c128 insert) set the equates for cpm3+, hayes
modem, max 1200 baud. My problem is that when in debug mode (not right
name) after assembling/linking etc as per the docs it still refuses to
run properly. I keep getting the following actions: bye - sends ATZ -
ok response (0 from modem) then it sends the init string (which should
be ok as the init string is ok at my looking at it or examining the
modem afterwards) but it keeps reporting modem error and repeating the
process ad infinitium. I have to power down to get out of this loop..
Someone out there has done this before me and I need help. also does
anyone want to sell their copy or m80 or slr80(????) or what is a close
pd z80 assembler that will compile pbbs45 so that I can run this bbs?
(I've got z80asm, z80mr-a, z1 etc) any help would be apreciated. Could
part of my problem be that I have a 2400 baud modem?
