[comp.sys.cbm] Desterm Question...

[question from a rare poster]

I have received a copy of the new release of Desterm for my 128.
I have un-arced it, and now I have a problem.

It un-arcs fine, runs ONCE. When I go to re-load, it hangs at the intro
screen. After wait time, and keypresses, nothing. The only solution is
unarc another copy.

Anyone have any idea what is wrong? I disconnected all excess peripherals
when this first became a problem. I put another copy on a brand new disk
with no auto boot sector. Nothing seems to create a favorable environment
for the program to load.

Any suggestions would be appreciated

I think that the default des.init file is either corrupted or violently
disagreeing with your hardware. If you delete this file, the program
should run allowing you to configure everything. I recommend that
you do this with no peripherals attached (ie no modem -- yet). If
the control signals are wrong there may be troubles. Once you have
set things up, you may then re-save the settings. Try to be sure that
the C128 is freshly booted (ie no residual data is lying around).
People have found that using V1.01 first (then quitting) makes V1.02
work -- I have my ideas. I know what causes these problems (and they
are fixed) -- but I am trying to see If I can release a patch program as
a quick solution... HANG TIGHT...

  Matt.

Hi,
I started using Desterm, and I think it is a GREAT program. (I am
even planning to send the Shareware contribution, but I am not sure
about the right USnail address) Anyways, the reason for this actually
to report a "bug"...

Problem is that Desterm, when doing Batch/Multi Uploads it would
Just match the first file in the directory, and won't see anything
after that and finnish the Upload. Also, when I send the command:
	u0>m0
to the drive to put it in Single Sided mode, and after that I try to
download/upload something it simply crashes.

Also, the program won't load at all if I have a Cartridge plugged in
the expansion port. Can anybody tell me why is that or is there a way
to fix this, or will the Next version fix these bugs?

Actually the program is pretty good, but the Multi-Uploads just
don't work. This would be my Term of choice if it weren't for those
small but VERY annoying details!

If it helps something, my system set up is:
	1 C128D (w/ Built in 1571)
	1 80 Column Monitor
	1 WarpSpeed Cartridge
1 Blue Chip 128 Disk Drive (1571 compatible)
	1 1351 Mouse connected to port 1 (I don't use it here...)
1 Joystick in port 2 (I don't use it here eithr)
[Heh, not selling this neat system, so don't sell any offers :-) ]
