k1te@lectroid.sw.stratus.com (Bradshaw Lupton) (01/17/90)

Anyone know of a gateway from/to quantum link to/from internet?

My dear elderly father in Chapel Hill, NC would like to e-mail to
his favorite and only son in MA.

						tnx, bradshaw

Ha!

Sadly, QuantumLink is its own little world. Neither mail nor files
can make their way between it and the glorious InterNet.

It would be reallyReallyREALLY nice if there were some sort of a
bridge - p'raps have Q-Link be a UUCP node, or something.

And I would be *ecstatic* if I could reach Q-Link's file libraries
from here. Sure, I could subscribe - I did for a year and a half,
until I kinda ran out of money. Compared to Compu$erve, Q-Link is
cheap; compared to any reasonable sense of that money is worth today,
it's incredibly expensive.

I think that having some sort of link with the InterNet would be a
wise move for Q. Althought there are thousands of people out here who
can reach the net without a second thought, there are just as many out
there who own Commodores but have no way to reach the net. If Q were
to even carry just UseNet articles, it would open up a whole new
dimension to its use!

BTW, I wonder how ol' Q is doing these days. I heard rumors that it's
come upon hard times. Is there any truth to this?

It's a sad commentary on modern times when a father loses touch with
his son for lack of a good serial gateway.
