[comp.sys.cbm] Modem Wars - The Ultimate Wargame

Modem Wars by Dan Bunten is an incredible realtime wargame. Right now I've
seen it available on the Commodore 64 & IBM machines, both compatible via
modem. I've been playing for close to a year now and I'm still not tired
of it. Has anyone heard if it is available for the Amiga as well???

Anybody else out there who has played this incredible game? What do you
think of it?

I have it. Its ok, but I am singularly unimpressed by the graphics [IBM, dont
know about the C= version]. For my money, if you want to compete with
another user use the Omega tank design/programming and send you designs via
modem. IBM, C=, and Apple I think also can all compete with each other this
way. The game is really good!

True, from what I have heard, the graphics on the IBM version leave something
to be desired and they are also slower than on the 64. My friend reports
having to wait for the IBM to catch up during setup on the game but that
during the game, no delay is noticed.

I don't think the graphics are really the best part of the game, rather the
strategy and competition against another human opponent and the chance to
outthink your opponent and have it show up in tangible results.

However, I do think the graphics on the 64 are adequate for the game and all
the screens are well thought out and arranged.
