A shell program, ~165 disk blocks (~60K) that performs disk I/O and
most of the
small standard functions (cat, alias, filename completion, grep, sort, more
and about 70 others...)
In addition, because they didn't fit in memory with the main code,
are about
ten other programs (dc, a little DOS shell, ed, telnet (telecom) et. al.) And
I included a file called 'make' that, when run, writes a sample .login
and the man
pages to the disk.
Most of the code is in vast need of improvement, which is one of the
reasons I'm so eager to get other people to use/modify it. For instance,
I wanted the telecom package I wrote to do VT-100, but I only got clear screen
and a few other things working. The code is entirely in BASIC, but BASIC 128
makes it run pretty fast.
At this moment, I'm feverishly working on getting fsck to write to
the disk
(I think I found a solution while in Calc II today).
I'd like people who do use the code to let me know what needs fixing, and
even better, what you DID fix and how.

My school address is P.O. Box 6124, SUNY Binghamton, Binghamton,
NY 13901.
I can be reached at CONSP24@BINGSUNS.POD.BINGHAMTON.EDU,
CONSP24@BINGVAXU.CC.BINGHAMTON
.EDU or CONSP24@BINGVAXA.CC.BINGHAMTON.EDU (I prefer BINGSUNS). If
anyone wants
my phone #, write me.

Lastly, when I have time I will do the uploads. I will upload both
the source
and the compiled versions, and supporting files. The question is:
where do you
want it? Tolsun and Tukki seem to be the only Commodore upload areas around.

Oh, yeah, to Sean Burke and anyone else who wants to send me a disk: I
only have the 5 1/4" 1571 in my 128D (no 3.5), but I'd be happy to copy the
code for you (if everyone sends me a disk, I won't have to spend 8 hours
uploading!
:) )

Cannot send mail to the return address from this article.
Therefore I am adding my wishes to be added to the list of people
requesting the UNIX for the 128. Also, I would like to know which
compiler was used to generate the code.

I wrote the code entirely in Basic 7.0 (no extensions like Basic 8 etc.)
and compiled it with Abacus Software's Basic 128 (it's a combination of
P-Code and Machine Language)
As for the FTP site, I will probably send it to Scott Stephen
who will place it on Milton.
I got adventurous last night and provided the command % LPR filename &,
that is, background printing. I'm having slight problems with where
and when to dump to the printer so everything else is unaffected (I
promise that's the last thing I'll write before uploading it... I'm
sure everyone's getting itchy!)
I might also consider TARing and COMPRESSing the files,
then UUENCODING them and mailing them to everyone on the list, since
it'll save everyone the effort of getting onto Milton.
