[comp.sys.cbm] Commodore Hard Drive Repair/Enhancement

steyaert@vela.acs.oakland.edu (Terry Steyaert) (05/05/90)

I am curious if anyone has had any dealings with the JCT Service
Center. (Such as, is JCT still in business?) I bought a JCT 5
Meg hard drive used a few years ago. Last night, the drive was
locked up. When I turned the drive off and back on, when it finished
spinning the fan up, it starts the hard drive going. All the drive
did was buzz. (It did not sound nice. :( ) After calling around
the Detroit area, I couldn't find anyone that fixes the drive. Have
yet to try the company. Hoping someone out there can give me some
information on it. (I believe it is out of Seatle, but I am not
positive.)

My second question deals with the ICT hard drive. I have a Data
Chief, 20 meg drive. It is my understanding that you can enlarge
this drive up to 60 megs with ST225 hard drives. Since there are
only two slots for cards, I assume that you can hook 2 Seagate ST225
hard drives to the origional card. It has extra power plugs, and
has, what may be, another connector to plug in the small cable to
the additional drive. I can't find another connector for the large
cable. (Can you jumper it off the other large cable?)

Any help would be appreciated. The ICT Data Chief was also bought
used, and the old owner didn't have the manual. It is also my
understanding that ICT is out of business.

Thanks in advance.
