[comp.sys.cbm] Joystick ports

MV010320@NDSUVM1.BITNET (05/07/90)

I have a Commodore +4 and I would like to adapt my regular joysticks to
the +4 port the question is which wire goes where?????? Here is a sketchy
display of what the ports look like....

       __
     /... \ . . . . .
    |- -- | =metal outer casing . . . .
     \- - /
                                          Regular Joystick
    + 4 Joy port

What I want to do is run wires from the joystick to the Joy port on the
+4. The question is what goes where without frying my +4????? Thanks
in advance for any advise.

                                            Thanks,

                                            Thomas

I did this ages ago, but don't have specifics. Use a meter to locate ground
and +5V on the Plus/4's plug (it may not even have +5V). Then just play
with ground and the other wires. :-)

If you still have the books that came with the plus four, I'm almost certain
they would have a proper pinout diagram. They, you just have to match up the
lines with a pinout diagram for a c64. Fortunately, such a pinout is included
with this post!!

  1 2 3 4 5
  . . . . .
    . . . .
6 7 8 9 (this is looking at the computer, NOT the cable)

1 Joya0
2 Joya1
3 Joya2
4 Joya3
5 Potay (paddle)
6 Button a/lp
7 +5v
8 ground
9 potax

have fun, and good luck!!

ps c64s are awesome!! I have since bought a mac, but I'll never get rid of my
c64
