I am looking for a good assembler for the C= 64. Can anyone
    recommend any.

I have computes Second book of ML. I typed in
LADS but it does not fully work. I used MLX and double checked
    for mistakes but found none.

Does anyone have a working copy they can mail me?

    Bob

PAL64 by Brad Templeton is one of the best assemblers for the C64... I would
imagine that you could get it just about anywhere..

I can't recommend it as a great assembler, but it's functional and you can get
it for $8 -- Commodore's Assembler 64. It lets you use labels, constants,
combine source files during assembly, create macros, etc. It's disk-based.
Unfortunately, it has no concept of local variables (nice for defining
subroutines and macros), and it comes in about 4 pieces which you load
separately before you run them (editor, assembler, monitor, loader). I'd
say it's worth $8 from Tenex Computer Express (1-800-776-6781).

I paid $2.95 for Tenex's catalog in B. Dalton's (bookstore), but I'm sure
you don't need one to order. I've ordered a third-party disk drive, some
software, and a modem from them without any hassle.
