I spoke with our system op about this and he informed me that he thought he had removed umodem (xmodem ftp because it was old and most pc's have a newer version of Xmodem. Although others here at U of Toledo have gotten umodem to work, I have not to date. So if youcan find an older version of xmodem (I really do not have a date in mind) you might have some luck. I7ve found desterm 1.02, dialogue128 and other 128 term programs such as proterm to be riddled with problems. I cannot download with 2400 from any BBS with any of these terms <well, I never tried dialgue but the buffer save/load commands dont work> From: wlj1@cunixb.cc.columbia.edu (Wayne L Jebian) Path: cunixb.cc.columbia.edu!wlj1 ccgms 7.0 works very nicely but 11.0 should have the Xmodem bug fixed -Mark Dolengo

I've been using DesTerm 1.02 for about 4 months now, with no problems downloading. (Uploading with a 1581 had a problem that has apparently been licked in version 2.0) Might you be choosing the wrong type of Xmodem for the transfer? Daryl Turner <umturne4@ccu.umanitoba.ca>

Just for the record, I have NEVER had any problems downloading using DesTerm 1.02 xmodem. (That is when I download in true xmodem) But if youget some older commodore bbs programs, their xmodem usually leaves alot to be desired. I've seen what some call xmodem not even resembling the handshake for xmodem. So I hope noone was discouraged from using Desterm 1.02 because indeed it has proved to be the best terminal program I have seen for c128. Byron

Ok, I said earlier I had problems with Desterm 1.02. I'll be more specific here 1st- i use only Punter Xfers, and I'm using a 2400 baud modem <on my 128D, I'm using a supra interface and a Microcom AX/2400c modem...> when I attempted to upload via punter or via Ascii, it failed, miserably. anyway, I stick primarily with ccgms V7.0 since it works nicely and I dont have color 80 cols <using a b/w cable for 80 cols> oh, i forgot to mention, I have had horrific problems on Cnet 4.0 systems with 2400 baud. Downloads are fine but multi downloads fail, no matter what term program I use. On Image 1.2 systems, or any other BBS program, ccgms gives me no problems. its just on the Cnet 128 V4.0 -Mark Dolengo Xmodem=s-l-o-w

Ok..had to say something here..the CCGMS 6.01 is the LATEST version (viable version) that was let out..thoug the 8.8 will work on those 128s that have problems with the 6.01..I found one titled CCGMS ELITE V1.0...this one has the 2400 Baud routines fixed in it...it IS the 6.01, just the 2400 routines work better...I used the 6.01 to Multi-Down out of a CNet 128 V4.0 system all the time...at 1200...now using my IMAGE term from my system to MD from systems at 2400...Modem is the Aprotek C24/2400 baud modem...and have had some success using the CCGMS ELITE with it...you might try and locate the program and see if it will work better with your modem.... -- Please use bang address ...!natinst!tqc!fquest as we are not in the maps yet. about the ccgms versions, V10.0 or 11.0, one of those has the Xmodem bug fixed. unfortunately there is a V17.0 with no real improvements in it. -Mark Dolengo
